It hurts when your brand, product or service is at the bottom of social media platforms. Usually, people will always attribute that to negligence or lack of seriousness on your path but truth be told, it’s not easy to stand out among million posts, tweets and messages on social media these days.
One funny thing is – it even gets harder with each passing day as the social networks continue to expand and grow with more businesses and individuals subscribing to these platforms.
Just imagine you probably just established a new business and have decided to take it online; using social media as one of you marketing tools.
Now the question is how do you get this new product to reach those it has been designed for and how do you distinguish your brand from the others who have even been there before you?
This question is what this post will seek to redress as I will be showing you some highly effective ways to make you brand stand out from the crowd on social media.
How will you get your product into the hands of consumers who will benefit from it? How will they even know it exists?
Add value first
In order to stand out, start by giving back to your customers. One of the ways to check yourself on whether you are offering value is to consider your perspective.
Are you just doing social media stuff or are you behaving like a human?
Humans help one another. Humans make each other laugh. Share things that are informative, instructional.
Humans respond to questions and service issues. Just doing social media or being social is a mindset that quickly reduces the value you have to offer.
Value is what gets your audience to trust that you have something important to share.
According to Jeff Bullas, you can create value by developing a memorable brand or great content.
Ask your audience what they want using social media platforms
Your audience needs to feel this relationship with you and to achieve that; you need to indulge them in certain things. For example, you can probably ask them questions about what they think about your services.
One classical example is when you go to some banks here in Nigeria; there are suggestion boxes where customers have the opportunity to suggest to the bank.
Usually, these suggestions might be to improve on their services or add some new things to their services. It all depends on the customer’s perception.
In some cases, your customer care representative can check on your customers once in a while to ask them relevant questions on the products or services your company is rendering to your customers.
The answers are not meant for the garbage, you are expected to look deep into them and provide solutions or fix those issues.
It is very important because you will build trust in the minds of your customers and also make yourself a preferred customer choice.
Reply to questions asked by your customers
Don’t you get annoyed when you see people or businesses who don’t reply to some comments simply because they feel those people are “irrelevant”?
One of the most difficult aspects of bringing a product to market on your own is developing an audience. I personally won’t bother sending messages to you anymore.
It is imperative to ensure that you keep up with your customers by making sure you reply their messages or request promptly. This is to help you foster the relationship and make them know you care about their needs.
Be more personable with your customers
Being more personable doesn’t mean you’re not being professional. It’s important to remember that people do business with people. We often forget that people are posting for businesses’ sites, and adopting a tone with some personality is refreshing.
Showcase the culture within your business
As a business, you should highlight the actual people doing all the work. Posting pictures of your workplace, your employees or fun office outings is important because you are giving a face to your name.
In addition, potential customers may be more inclined to trust your business when they are able to see the ins and outs.
Write blog posts – it works all the time and distribute them using the various social media platforms
Not only do blog posts allow for more traffic to your site, they offer a voice for your business. Blog posts can be a way of creatively communicating with your potential customers and customers.
Whether you want to educate them regarding a certain topic in your niche, make announcements, highlight your business’ accomplishments, or showcase your business’ culture, blog posts can make your business come alive. In addition, they can be easily shared on social media.
For example, you can use your social media handle like Facebook to promote your articles. You can share your links on social media where you can direct your prospects and customers to the blog to read more.
This will make the millions of social media users learn more about your brand and see you as one they can run to for professional advice in your niche.
Your brand message begins and ends with consistency. This involves everything about how you present your content, from your logo to preferred color schemes to types of content that figure most heavily in your marketing efforts.
There should be elements to your content—particularly visual content—that make people instantly recognize it as yours.
You can use curated content or stock visuals in your posts and blogs, but if you are boosting the post or creating an ad that you are paying for people to see, the content in those posts and ads must be original.
This is for the same reason as above: People scrolling through a busy news-feed aren’t going to stop because they see a picture of a limo.
They will, however, stop when they recognize a trusted brand like yours, so give them what they want. Keep it original and keep it real.
Try not to be overly “selly” with your content. There are just so many ways you can say “book a ride with us” before it comes across as repetitive and insincere.
Remember that your audience is made up of people with diverse interests that go way beyond limousines. Focus on their lives and lifestyles, and create a unique experience for them when they visit your page.
A Confident Approach
The thing about companies that are really good at what they do is that they don’t have to tell people that they’re good—their work and reputations speaks for them.
If you’re confident in what you do, don’t think it’s necessary to shine the spotlight on yourself or your company.
Provide smart, unique, and intelligent content that shows that you know your onus. Talk is cheap. Let the way you approach your audience exude confidence.
Let it show that you’re an expert in areas like safety and hospitality and do it with good, focused, and high-quality content.
Share from experts in your industry
When you follow experts and share their posts, you are put in their spotlight. These experts may check out your business’ profile, and if they find your profile interesting, they will follow you.
This is important because these experts, who may have thousands of followers, may re-post one of your business’ posts, giving your business tons of attention and credibility. This results in many more potential customers.
Create a conversation
A boring business only talks about itself. If you want your business to be appealing, you have to engage in conversation with your potential customers.
When you engage in conversation, you build relationships and start to understand your audience even more. Hosting a live Q & A is a great way to create a conversation with your current and potential customers.
As a business, it’s important for you to understand your audience’s wants and needs. Addressing certain issues in a live Q & A can be very beneficial for all parties. Communication is key!
Explore new social media technology
We all know it’s frightening to invest money in new technology, especially technology related to social media, a “world” that is new to many businesses.
However, your industry’s playing field is changing quickly, as is the social media industry. It is important to stay up-to-date with trends, and if you feel that your business can leverage a new trend in any way, it’s important to explore this hunch.
Being one of the first businesses in your industry to explore a new feature on a social site can make your business stand out and reach a larger audience.
For example, your business may find the new Facebook Live feature to be very useful. You can turn your live Q & A’s into actual ‘Live’ Q & A’s, which will allow your business to engage in a more fun and trendy way.
To stand out on the internet takes more than just writing but also implementing all that you have written down as your major strategies. For any entrepreneur, it’s a central challenge to stand out amongst millions of products, services and ads on the internet.
There are so many ways to amplify your voice. And even more importantly, people want to be heard. If you’re in the public eyes, it’s almost expected. If you’re creative, thoughtful and persistent, you can connect with anyone.
Therefore, it is imperative that you utilize all necessary strategies that will make you stand out from the crowd and also attest yourself to be worth the try for your ideal customers.
