One of the biggest challenges you will have as a blogger will be attracting visitors to your blog. It is in fact more difficult to get blog traffic than creating blog post itself.
The consistency and attention a blog needs can actually be tasking. Nobody wants to keep writing articles without having an in-flow of readers constantly checking to know what’s new on your blog; it’s like having an incognito website for your use only.
Trying to make great sales in this fast and furious era without making considerable effort to tap into your non-customer base is like riding a camel through the hole of the needle, that is the same thing as attracting blog traffic.

Out of 305.9 blogs, what is so special about yours that makes it recognizable with a heavy influx of reader traffic?
In creating a traffic driven blog, you have to consider varying factors that will distinguish your blog from the other 305.9 blog account or if you are thinking of creating a blog account, you need to be conscious of the growing number of blogs in other to know how you too can fit in without being known.

Blogs are a way-to-go for building brand persona and taking yourself out there for people to know no just you but what your brand also stands for. A lot of companies have understood the trick in blogging and have started using the medium to create their presence online to increase their customer base and grow revenue.
Why are you still lacking behind? Instead of gaining more customers, you keep losing them; am sure those are the questions that keep resonating each time you think.
The fact is if you have a tool but you don’t know how to use it, it is as good as not having that tool at the first instance. I will keep saying that online is such an interesting market place that you can sell and make so much profit from and one of the tools online is a blog.
Blogs can generate so much revenue for you than you ever expected, the question is; do you know how to use it to your own advantage?
You keep hearing names like Linda Ikeji, Kemi Filani, BellaNaija, Geek.ng, Jaguda.com, Pulse.ng, and Punchng.com; all these are just a few of the many blogs we have even in Nigeria and they all are pushing their brands with the use of their blogs for their own benefits and are increasing their follower base online and even making profit from the blogs.

No one is left out on this one, as even newspapers, TV stations, companies and businesses are all moving to their blogs to create their online presence and grow revenue for their brands. You too can achieve this height of success if you take the right steps.
Let’s see how you too can leverage on this great opportunity and make your blog stand out while you grow revenue.
Content is kings on the internet
Am sure your just thinking like ‘oh not again!’ am sorry but I can’t help but to keep mentioning the importance of content. Content is the greatest ingredient that can drive traffic to your blog.
As I always say, nobody wants to read irrelevant stuffs, we all want to either get informed or entertained with whatever it is we are reading. People have different motives for checking certain blogs because they know whatever it is they are looking for, they will get it there.
I personally love to check BellaNaija for posts on the latest weddings, LindaIkeji for trending gossips, and Pulse.ng for funny Nigerian vox pops. We naturally have that thing that drives us to blogs.
Therefore, you have to be conscious on the type of content you put at there because your content sells you and your business as a brand. Whatever it is that your brand stands for, make sure your content constantly contains your central idea as a brand.

People don’t see you, they see and read your content and that it basically what determines if they return or never show up again. You have to make sure they return and also invite others to your blog.
Content is a very powerful tool for reaching and engaging your audience, but it requires the right tactics, careful consideration, and a whole bunch of creativity. At the same time, it also needs patience and clever promotion.
You have the power to move up the social bloggers ladder if you take content very importantly by changing the quality of your content and focus on a particular niche to be reckoned with when customers want to be enlightened on a certain topic or even purchase your product or service.
Keep updating and blogging frequently
A blog is just a mere page if you don’t consistently put up interacting posts. Most bloggers are famous today because of their consistent blogging pattern. You select a posting pattern and follow through with that pattern.
Make sure that pattern is favorable and conducive for you so that you don’t start rushing up posts and end up distributing ‘irrelevant’ stuffs.
Updating your blog simply means putting up new articles that are engaging and welcoming. Avoid putting up outdated posts, probably, there is this new development in your niche and it maybe happened some weeks ago and you go post it 3 weeks after; that gist is stale.
No one will bother reading it even if it contains valuable information. You have to be current and report issues as they unfold.
For businesses, you probably launched a new product or service and you wait until it’s out and about in the markets before blogging about it, that’s wrong!
The thing about blogging is even before its release, you can start singing the praises of the product or service so that people can start engaging with it before it is released. This keeps them anticipating the product and can invariably boost sales and grow revenue.
Apart from making profit, blogging regularly will keep Search Engine algorithm indexing your blog content.
Thereby increasing your search ranking which means that once your posts rank tops on search engines, internet users will visit your blog more in other words, increasing traffic to your blog.
Consistency over time will make you an authority on the topics you blog about. Whichever way you choose to drive more traffic to your blog, consistency is fundamental.
Make the social media your playground for more blog traffic
For every thriving blog, the social media is the bedrock for distributing blog posts. The social media gives the room to share your content with the 2.34 billion social media users in the world and it is estimated that the number will increase to 2.67 billion in the next two years.
With this number that is increasingly on the rise, it is reasonable to say that social media is the best place to share your content.
Articles or blog post that have ‘good content’ shared on social media always do well because you can have your friends and followers on your social media like and share your post on their page and the flow keeps going.
With this flow, your blog is being visited and this automatically creates traffic for you.

For me, I use Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn to distribute my posts and it’s usually worth. It will amaze you on how helpful your post is to some set of persons; don’t keep yourself bound in one position with your content.
Your content might be great but u probably are not distributing it through the right channels or you have confined yourself to your blog only. Great content without proper distribution is pointless, device a means to get your work out there for people to see and know you exist.
You can never do wrong by using social media platforms to push out your content; it’s always the right way to go.
Connect with other bloggers.
Connect with other bloggers
Every blogger needs to keep close working relationship ties with other bloggers and even authorities in same field.
When I say keep ties I mean you should be able to create some neutral ground relationship that can even enable you get that person to sometimes comment on your post and you can only achieve this if you constantly keep up with their posts, link them to your post by referencing their articles also, drop comments on their posts.

This builds a subtle relationship that even when you need their input, they will gladly oblige you. You can’t just pop up from nowhere and expect them to bond immediately with you, there has to be some form of prior consistent connection to cement the relationship.
Having an authority in your niche provide certain classified information on your blog is priceless because the audience will begin to reckon with you and see you as an authority to have such a person react to your post. This helps in driving traffic to your blog as you begin to create broad follower-ship.
Create a feedback medium
What is the need to post when you don’t have a feedback channel?
Feedback is the simplest way to get direct response from your followers or readers on your post either about a particular topic, product or service; they can comment on the issue.

Create a comment box below your content where people can share their thoughts and views on what you have posted.
The idea of feedback’s is to ensure that you’re communicating the right message and that your audience understands what you’re driving at with your blog post.
Promote your blog on other materials using the 80/20 rule
It might sound absurd but it’s also another way of generating traffic for your blog. Using other platforms like television and newspapers adding your link can help you spread the brand message.
I get if your trying to wrap your fingers around the fact that this materials can help you generate traffic and how. I will explain how.
Brain at Backlinko has consistently used the 80/20 rule to attract lots of blog traffic. Infect, he is reputed to have built his blog traffic to 90,000 in just a month. Below is a video of Brain explaining how the 80/20 rule works.
Those materials have their own subscribers or will i say adherent followers, therefore; when you put up a promotional banner on their materials, it will invariably mean those followers will be able to access your blog through the promotion of your blog.
This will generate more traffic to you and can also bring some extra cash!
Create a niche and stick to it
Most bloggers write about anything that just comes to their mind which is not good for blogging. You should pick a particular niche and be conversant with it. Avoid juggling on anything that comes to mind.
Sticking to a particular niche makes your audience know what your brand stands for. You can’t write on finance today and later entertainment, it might be really disconnecting for your audience. Every blog has a niche its articles are tailored around.
Especially for businesses, if your business is majorly on agriculture, u can’t keep deviating by blogging about fashion or entertainment. You can only deviate if the topic relates to your niche in a way.
Audience retention and traffic generation work hand in hand, if you can’t retain them with contents that is tailored towards one direction, you sure will lose them and thwart your plans of ever gaining blog traffic.
Attract more traffic to your blog by including pictures and videos
For me, reading long text can be really boring and most times, it’s easy to get distracted from what you’re reading when there is only text. As a blogger, you should be able to use interesting and quality videos and pictures that explain your article.
Videos and pictures give a very smooth flow while reading the article. It’s easy and more interesting to read articles that have pictures; while videos give a more detailed explanation.

Now vloggers are making article writing very interesting, as they mostly use visuals to sell their brands. I can just imagine reading an article without pictures or videos, am sure your eyes will keep bleeding.
Keywords are necessary for search engine optimization
Writing is one thing, creating a means for your work to be seen is another thing. One thing that enables search engines locate your post is basically the type of keywords you use. Keywords are just the icing on the cake. Am sure you are thinking to yourself about the way it can generate more traffic to your blog.
Internet users who search on search engines using specific words will end up going to your site if only the search engines recognize your post keyword (s). Blog traffic generation can be achieved with the right keyword putting you in-front of your target audience.
Invite people to contribute on your blog
OK, don’t be scared, nobody will take over your blog. This is just a fair way to increase traffic to your blog. When you invite some other person to write on your blog, his or her followers will come trooping in to read the article. This welcomes them to your blog and generates blog traffic.
Make your content reader friendly
Writing can be a bit tedious sometimes but writing a post that is easy to read is the most tasking of the job. Once your article cannot be understood by your audience, then there is a problem.
Communication is the key when writing but once the aim is defeated, then there is no need writing in the first instance. First, you have to keep your sentences short and simple.
This makes it easy for your audience to relate with and connect with your brand.
Write captivating blog traffic titles
Titles are very important; your post is nothing without a working title. Titles are expected to draw the attention of the audience to the piece you have written. Every blog post have titles that distinguish each post from a previous post.

In relation to the topic, traffic can be generated once you use the right title for your topic. Once anyone checks your blog, the first striking thing is your article and the only thing that can drive your article out there, is the kind of title you use.
Relate with your audience
Creating a level of relationship by responding to comments or feedback’s made by your audience is highly recommended. You cannot do away with your audience; they are the ones you write for so dismissing them by ignoring their feedback’s is more or less chasing them away.
So how can you generate traffic and grow revenue when you continuously snob those who really matter. The aim of relating with your audience is to create a form of relationship with them that will keep them and also invite more audience.
When you relate with your audience, there are certain things you can even learn from them, especially in the case where your not doing something right on your blog, they can quickly call you back to order.
Feedback’s can actually deter them from visiting your blog. Do not take your audience for a ride, keep them close so you don’t lose them. Feedback’s are so important in blog traffic generation as you can never go wrong with it.
Keep sharing your post to increase your blog traffic
You can’t stop sharing your post. You can’t post just once and think it suffices. There are means to schedule your blog post without doing it manually over and over.
All you have to do is schedule your post at certain times to distribute your content on your various social media platforms.
Certain old posts might actually be the ones to rekindle and increase the number of visitors that frequently check your blog thereby creating blog traffic.
