Traffic powers social media marketing, once you’re able to drive traffic to your page, you will not only grow organic reach, you’ll have authority in your niche.
Social media is one of the easiest places for people to form opinions about businesses.
Sometimes you wonder why your organic reach is not growing while other people’s own in your niche is growing. Below are ideas I have written that will help you grow organic reach on social media
- Understand social media algorithms
It is very important to understand how this works; this help would you in the growth of organic reach as it is dependent on social media algorithms.
The algorithm is always changing and improving to ensure that users see what they want to see.
Every social media platform has its own algorithm, for instance instagram has three major factors that determine what a user would see on their feeds;
- Interest; post that appear more frequently on users feed are posts instagram think they’ll be more interested in.
- Timeliness; recent posts tend to appear more than older posts.
- Relationship; posts from accounts users frequently interacts with would appear more their feeds
Finding out social media algorithms and staying updated with them would help you know how to post to grow your organic reach.
- Put your efforts in the right places
You may think that your brand or your business would need to have presence on every social media platform, but that may not necessarily be true.
You have to know where your target audience is and what social media platform they are present because they may not be on every social media platform.
For you to be able to determine where your target audience is, try asking your customers which social media platforms they use both for business and personal reasons, you can do this by calling them or sending an E-mail.
Look at the number of shares you are getting, the people sharing your contents and where the shares are going, this would help you determine where your target audience is.
Also, observe your competitors and know where they are (the social media platform they use) these platforms are probably where your target audience is.
- Post timeless contents
Creating content is one thing, creating timeless content is another. A lot people do not plan the contents they post.
When you have a goal to reach on growing your organic reach, the contents you post should be planned. Your content can be fresh but not timeless.
People would easily forget about you if your content is not evergreen in their minds but once you start posting timeless content, people will keep coming back to your content because it adds value to them.
Also, posting evergreen content will lead to increase in engagement on social media causing your contents to appear on people’s feeds for a longer period.
- Create, invite and join groups
Social media groups can be a way to grow organic reach when you actively post constructive thoughts on issues related your brand. People in groups get to see your posts and follow the thread of discussion.
By so doing you have engaged them and since social media groups tend to show posts that have lots of engagement to more people on the groups chances are your organic social media reach would grow.
For instance, Facebook is one of the most used social media platform, it is about building communities. You can create your own group join active engaging groups.
Most people create groups for certain reasons, find the reason you want to create a group, actively post engaging contents and watch your organic reach begin to grow.
- Promote your social media pages everywhere
Promote your business everywhere it has a presence, it could be on your business cards, your websites, the signature on your mail, people who see your social media pages on the listed places are likely to check them out.
Apart from word-of-mouth or any other form of marketing, social media pages is a place where they can see what you are doing and see what other people are saying about your brand.
This would however, increase your social media organic growth. Also, you can cross promote your social media pages to grow organic growth.
- Do not post during rush hours
Most people think that they should post when everyone is online, that may not be entirely true, because sometimes when you post at this time, your content may just get drowned in the ocean of other posts causing less people to see your posts.
At this time your competitors are also online and your target audience may not necessarily have the time to effectively go through your posts, because at this time they are confused.
Posting during slow hours enhances your reach because at this time your target audience is well settled to go through you content.
According to CoSchedule, the optimal time to post is between 1to 4 pm, for Saturdays and Sundays 12-1 pm, for Thursdays and Fridays 1-4 pm and for Wednesdays 3pm.
However, you have to find out through your own social media marketing test what time works best for your brand to grow organic reach because what works for a clothing brand may not necessarily work for an electronic brand.
- Partner with social media pages in your niche
Some people might think collaborating with other social media pages in their niche is bad business but that’s actually not true, it’s a win-win situation for your brand or business.
To collaborate with other social media pages you need to find brands that have more follower-ship than you do, strike a deal with them and get on with it.
They don’t need to have millions of followers but they should have a significant amount that would have an impact on your brand.
They don’t only need to have more follower-ship, they also need to have authority in your niche because this would help you grow organic reach as well engage your target audience.
- Use hashtags rightly
Hashtags can help in the growth of organic reach, take for instance Facebook creates a unique URL for each hashtag.
People can use hashtags to get contents or even use them to locate your business page in the process of searching for products or services in your niche.
Ensure that you use hashtags that are related to your business, you can also create your own, hashtags also work well on social media pages like twitter and Facebook.
- Do not always post promotional content
The reason you don’t get a lot of likes and followers on your social media page is because you always post promotional content, the consumers of your content would definitely get tired of seeing your promotional content.
Make your promotional post 20% and 80% experiential. Experiential contents can be educative or entertaining but it should be useful and engaging to your target audience.
Sharing valuable contents would make your audience grow trust in your brand and in that way they share your content, other people get to see it and visit your page, that way your organic reach continues to grow.
- Use post targeting
The reason for targeting organic post is so that it will teach the right audience. Post targeting has been in use for a while now but the feature has gotten more useful.
With the organic post targeting, you can post contents relevant to customers based on their age, location, gender and what they are interested in, you can put an end date for such posts.
Using organic post targeting would help you know the right target audience for your post, it can show you how differently your posts perform for different audiences there by letting you know who your target audience is.
- Post quality content
Posting certain types of content can cause significant growth in organic reach. You can be putting quite a number of content on social media with the hope that your organic reach would grow but it doesn’t.
You can use less but better content and your reach would still grow. A lot of boring content will make your target audience leave but when you post quality content people will be looking forward to your content.
- Run a contest
Social media contest is another way to grow organic reach because there’s usually a gift for it. Set a goal for your contest that will have an impact on your organic reach.
Be sure of what kind of contest you’ll run, know how you’ll choose your winners and choose them randomly.
Select the prize that will be given to the winner, ensure that prizes for the contest is related to your business to make sure that people who participate for the contest are not just doing it for the prize.
- Interact with your followers
Organic social media reach is a lot easier when people come directly to your page. The reason they’ll keep coming directly to your page is because you’re engaging and interactive.
People will always look forward to seeing your posts. Also, interacting with your audience would create a bond that will help grow your business and your organic reach.
In social media marketing, maximizing organic reach on social media very important, it’s almost the same as improving SEO strategy,
Post quality contents, stay up to date with social media algorithms and interact with your audience.
Sometimes it’s not only about working hard but also working smart, find what it is that makes your target audience happy, once this is done, every other thing becomes easier.
